Editorial standards

How we research, write, and keep Lanzamo accurate — and the lines we won't cross.

Last updated June 2026

Accuracy and sources

Our tools and guides are built from primary sources — state Secretary of State fee schedules, IRS publications, and official agency guidance — not recycled from other blogs. Fees and rules change often, so we date our data and tell you to confirm the current figure with the official source before you act on it.

Independence

We make money through affiliate links (see how we make money), but commissions never decide our rankings or what our tools calculate. We recommend what we’d tell a friend — including “do it yourself” or “none of these.”

The line we won’t cross

Lanzamo publishes general information and estimators — never advice applied to your specific situation. We won’t tell an individual reader “you should form an S-corp” or draft a legal document tailored to your facts; those are decisions for a licensed attorney or CPA. Staying on the information side of that line is deliberate, and it’s how we keep you (and us) safe.
